What happens to dwp debt recovery in the event of the persons death?

    The estate is liable.Funeral expenses are paid first, then debts, with pro-rata payments if there is not enough left to pay them all in full.

    The estate is likely to be nil
    So all you need to do is write them once to tell them there is nothing to pay any debts and that you won't be engaging in further correspondence with them.  Don't let them make you think that you or any family member is financially responsible to pay this yourselves.  You're not.
