Motorbike test mitigated

Hi all,
I’m in a bit of a predicament with my A license which I passed on 28th August.
I passed my A2 license back on the 1st August 2022, I then received a 56 day driving ban on 25th April 2023.
After this I then went on to do my A license test, which I passed both tests for without any mention of myself not being eligible.
Been waiting around 2 months now to receive my license so I called the DVLA only to be told that my test was being mitigated due to the ban from the year prior. They told me that due to the ban I was ineligible to take the test when I did.
Nobody told me that I was ineligible to take the test which the examiners are meant to do an eligibility check on myself before I take the test.
Is there anything I can do to appeal with as it was entirely out of my control. I totally forgot about the ban until today when they reminded me.
Anything help is appreciated!

All the examiner would do is look at your licence for eligibility, so you wouldn’t win an appeal on that. I thought if 56 days or more you had to retake your test anyway?1

In my case I didn’t need to retake my test due to the fact that I needed my license to take care of elderly relatives. So the judge told me I had a 56 day ban but didn’t have to retake my tests.1
