How to compare service costs of local garages without phoning all of them
Comments

How many would you phone?3-5 max.
For the sake of 5 min call each I know what I would do.1 -
Garages that need to advertise on these services are best avoided. The easiest way to be 'cheap' is to rush the job. Go with word of mouth.2

Good garages are busy by word-of-mouth and local reputation.
Poor garages need to sign up to marketing groups.2 -
If you're on Facebook, join a local group and ask on there. You'll get loads of posts from "friends" of each garage, but you'll probably get some genuine responses. It's really unlikely that you'll get the exact information you're looking for - a price for a specific job on a specific vehicle - but you might get an idea of the range. But the only proper was is to phone them all and ask.1

The knack is finding a garage you trust and stick with them. All easier said than done.2
