Car theft
My son in law had his car stolen from his driveway, The house was broken into and both key’s stolen. The police recovered the vehicle but unable to gain access into it had it removed to a police pound for forensic examination. Police say he is responsible for the cost of having the car being transported back to his home. Insurance company saying police need to release it before they can act but won’t say if they will cover the transport costs. Wonder if any one else has had the same issue

useless process would be for the insurance company to collect from the police and take away to be assessed/scrapped
firstly is he pursuing a claim with the insurance company?
Is he aware of any damage of the condition of the vehicle?
If he has a valid claim the insurance company should cover those costs but it makes little sense for it to be recovered to him then to be recovered to the insurance company
