How do you make the £30? All I can see is a £5 reward with Halifax

The Halifax trick is their reward accounts. You're allowed 3 each, then need to pay in £1500 & pay out by debit card £500. They allow internal transfers to count for the £1,500. And the debit card payments you can just pay money into a savings account thar accepts debit card payments (YBS for example) or just use cards for payments where you can't use credit cards, ie paying off credit card

Yes, they do, according to their website.

All the usual UK supermarkets accept Amex. Only place my card has bounced recently is Home Bargains.
