Nectar Points Stolen

I also had points stolen which Nectar refunded along with a new account number. My understanding was anyone can generate a Nectar number on their smartphone. They then make a small purchase which used to tell them how many points were on the card so they can sell the number to someone who uses the points. However, my last Sainsburys till receipt no longer shows the total points on the card meaning people can no longer sell the number. Seems like the security flaw has been fixed in the last week.1

In the end I received most of the stole points onto a new Nectar card, "computer problems" meant it was not possible to transfer the 353 points not stolen from my orignial card.
So I spent the recovered points on the last two "big shops" and plan on spending them as I go now.
Possibly too much effort for the theives, but what's to stop them adding their generated Nectar card number into SmartShop ? At the checkout it shows what points you can spend.

Didn't get any vouchers either!

We have just had 8500 points redeemed in a Liverpool Sainsburys but we live in Hampshire! There were two transactions at the Liverpool store, one to earn 1 point and then 8500 redeemed. I did receive an email confirming the points being spent so that immediately prompted me to get onto Nectar who blocked the account and will issue a new card. Still a pain having to set everything up again including a second card as we have one each. Nectar said we can still use the current card to accumulate points and take advantage of Nectar Prices until the new account is running and points transferred (hopefully including the stolen 8500). Wife used her card yesterday and the receipt still shows the points earned and the new total. Reading this thread it seems that Nectar security is as much use as a chocolate teapot and needs to be fixed.0

This happened to us. Unfortunately Sainsburys have not taken even very simple steps like asking for ID for redemptions, or better 2 factor authentication. It must be fuelling a lot of crime including I am pretty sure organised groups. We got our points back plus about 2000 extra, but a fobbing off about our comments on their total lack of security.0

I had a notification of my card being used in a Sainsburys about 150 miles from where I live a couple of days ago. It was just the standard 'thanks for shopping, play this game to win extra points' thing. Fortunatly my Nectar balance was less than 500 points so they couldn't spend anything! It looks like they spent a fiver as they earned me five points, and I got another 20 points from the game. So as things stand I'm 12.5p up as a result!
I have actually used the random Sainsburys Local store they spent in, about 18 months ago to buy a meal deal when I was visiting that area for work. I expect this is just a coincidence though.
I've always spent my Nectar points as soon as I've reached 500 - unlike Tesco Clubcard I don't see any real benefit in saving them up as none of the offers are worth using for me. I guess these frauds are just another reason to avoid keeping a high balance on Nectar.0 -
I lost all my tesco points a few years back, someone had a great old time going to Chessington, having pizza, harvester meals , and going to the cinema - just I live in NI so it werent me
My details were taken in s security breach - Easy jet I think it was, and whilst I dealt with everything I did online, I seriously never thought about points being of value and therefore stolen
Tesco refunded them straight away as soon as I alerted them
