Is light in shed notifiable?

Replacing old detached brick garage with a wooden shed.
The garage has a fluorescent light in there which uses a 9ft length of overhead cable coming from the house through garage wall with a light switch on garage wall. No other electric in there apart from this light.(This light was installed early 2000s) If I have the cable put into the new wooden shed and a new strip light installed by an electrician, will that be notifiable?

Notifiable in what sense and by whom? Nosey neighbours?
Certainly a proper electrician should ensure things are done properly.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on Debt Free Wannabe, Old Style Money Saving and Pensions boards. is the cable wired in in the house or plugged in like an extension lead ?0

I think it will be because the shed is new. It's debatable whether it is a replacement, which wouldn't be notifiable. It shouldn't add much to the cost if you find an electrician that can notify via their competent person scheme. The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Fluorescent tubes are being phased out, and manufacturing was stopped about a year ago. So it maybe a good time to change the lighting system anyway.1

Your electrician should run a new length of armoured cable from distribution board to a circuit breaker in shed for safety.1

New circuits are notifiable. But if the circuit is already there, and you're just moving it to a new shed, then it isn't.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.1
