Vinterior scams - newbies beware of giving out your email address in messages

Being in the throes of a deceased relative's house clearance, I thought I'd give Vinterior a go. Unfortunately I got suckered into a scam (now in the hands of our bank's fraud department) whereby you get an initial message within the Vinterior site asking for your email. It was very late, I was very tired, wanted to get the item sold and so sent it through. What harm could it do?
Quite a lot as it turns out. I got a very genuine-looking email (I now realise this was spoofed, to a South African email address) saying that the item had sold, clicked on the link....it said I needed to verify my card details. You can guess the rest. I'm kicking myself that I didn't wait for the cold light of day before I dealt with it; my usually excellent cynicism battery had clearly been drained for the day. It also didn't help that I was reading the emails on my phone and so the full titles/number of emails which came through from them wasn't as easily visible as on a laptop. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, isn't it?
I just want the above ramblings to sound a warning to anybody new to Vinterior - please be very careful about who you respond to and DON'T give your email away if anyone messages you within the site. I've even been told by Vinterior themselves (I did check, it really was them) that they've seen a surge in scams this last weekend.
I'm sure that this is a great site, but for me the damage is done. Back to Ebay we go.
