Thermostat broken

Hi,
We have a Worcester boiler with a Salus RT505tx thermostat. I noticed today the thermostat control wasn't on so I went to change the batteries and the metal plate that connects to the battery has snapped off.
There's nothing wrong with the boiler, just the control panel.
Is there a money saving way for me to replace this without having to get an engineer out?
Many thanks

If you buy the same one you could take the receiver off, and replace it. Normally 2 screws in the bottom. Use existing wires2

I should be able to find this with Google's help, but if you know it, it'll save hassle :-) (Photos of both items would really help - Google, as usual, is returning too many variations :-( And, what type of boiler do you have - combi? Or hot water tank?)Your simplest options will be to;1) Find a second-hand item on t'Bay. Perhaps a different model in that range, but as long as it does what you want.2) Take it to a local 'TV' or PC repair shop - they'll solder it back on, and likely charge you only a £enner for this while-you-wait job. (Call them up first to check they are happy to do this.)3) Ask friends, relatives, whatevs if they know someone who can wield a soldering iron - plenty do, and would be delighted to do such a simple and rewarding job.4) Use this opportunity to upgrade your controls. This will likely involve you unclipping your current receiver, sticking it on t'Bay for £15, and replacing it and a new ProgStat with a move advanced unit, one with - say - Smart controls via a phone App.5) Something else.1 -

I wasn't sure if it was a straight swap.
I will get some pictures tomorrow, boilers in little legs room and she's asleep.
Many thanks for the replies1 -
I'm not sure either, but there appears to be a series '5', which has a variety of compatible units.
We'll sort summat once we have more info. Some boilers, for instance, have the receivers built into their fascias, others are separate units.
Meanwhile, sweet dreams.
