Non-Eurepean Waybills (Brexit) Charges

I recently returned an item to Sonos. The item cost £19.99.

Sonos sent me the returns label which I packaged and sent. This was done through UPS.
The destination of the return was Poland.

I have now received a letter from UPS to paya Non-European Union Waybill at a total of £29.89

If I do not pay within 30 days of the date on the latter I will receive a late payment fee of up to £40

What are my rights in this matter? Do I have to pay or is this the company I bought it form?

    Can you clarify?

You say you "returned an item to Sonos".  Was it Sonos you bought from, or was it a third party?

Also, what was the reason for the return?  Was it faulty or did you simply decide you didn't like the item?

You aren't their customer as you didnt pay for the return, UK law allows couriers to charge for items delivered here from overseas but there is no statutory right for them to charge as the sender to overseas.

Tell them they've made a mistake and any bills should be directed to their customer Sonos

I returned something to the Netherlands recreantly and had to tick a customer declaration for returned products.

Perhaps this has caused the charge if you didn't tick it?
