Smart TV problem recording scheduled programmes

Wondering if anyone can help, my friend has a Samsung smart TV which she's had for a few years - she has a USB stick and she's bought a new one with more GB on but the TV still says too many recordings when trying to record from the schedule.  I have checked the e-manual and it looks as if you should be able to record programmes on the schedule and not just live programmes but so far not having any luck - any pearls of wisdom out there please?

Most Smart TVs only have one tuner (if you're referring to Freeview) so you can only record what you're watching effectively.

I have a Samsung smart TV.

You can sometimes record programmes that haven't shown yet by selecting them on the schedule.
It is a Law unto itself.
Sometimes I can schedule a recording and be watching youtube or something and it works in the background, other times it doesn't.
Sometimes I can schedule a recording for after I go to bed, and switch the TV off and it works, other times it doesn't

Sometimes I can schedule a recording off blocky low bitrate Freeview and it records whilst I am watching acceptable quality Freesat- guess what? sometimes it doesn't...

I use one of those Panasonic HDD recorders with it - that works as it is supposed to, but unfortunately it is Freeview so poor picture quality.

Samsung TVs do not play nice with Humax boxes btw, I've tried......

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Don't agree about the Humax boxes.....I've had two different models with 3 different models of Samsung TV and they've always worked flawlessly....In fact most Freeview viewing is via Aura recordings.

Welcome to my world!! It's an inherent problem with Samsung TV's and has been for about 10 years now. What appears to happen is that when you set up a series link, the TV never seems to cancel it from its memory so eventually you get to the maximum of 30 scheduled recordings as it doesn't put an end marker on the series. The only way to get over this is to rescan the channels but that then means that you have to select your recordings again.

We've had this issue when when there have been no scheduled recordings. Samsung support are absolutely useless. I've got an admission from Samsung that it's an issue, athough they call it a slight limitation of the feature. IMO its a problem and totally not acceptable. They keep offering to send an engineer to repair the TV (no point as it's not a repairable issue) or then a replacement (no point as it's still a problem with Samsung TVs when recording on to a hard drive). Their suggestion is don't use the series option to record and set each one up individually. Not going to happen as it's not what I expect to have to do with a new TV.

This has now been going on for 2 months and I've had to make a Section 75 claim as I've had enough of going around in circles. Reatiler says we have to deal with Samsung, Samsung say we have to deal with retailer.

Not sure it's something you should expect to do with any TV satisfactorily ....Would be simpler to just buy a recorder box for those still relying on that method of retro viewing.
