Which? the consumer organisation, have just advised customers of a price increase of £1 per month from November (a 9% increase if you receive the magazine). If you attempt to cancel on their website, you are immediately offered a 50% discount for 6 months. However, if you were to cancel and then re-subscribe as a new customer you get an even bigger discount (on a digital subscription) for 12 months.
These variable pricing policies, once considered sharp practice, are the kind of thing we have become accustomed to from big multinationals, communications and insurance companies, but from a consumer rights organisation that is supposed to be helping us?

If what you say is the case, then I agree, it's not what I would expect from 'Which'.1

I share your view. It would probably cause me to cancel my subscription entirely. They will have factored-in inertia and reasoned it's worth losing some customers to get more from those they retain.0

Which? & the consumer organisation
Should never be used together...
To make it even worse, on the Visa Updater System they have at least 30 different entries. Making it very hard to put a block when customer want a stop put on the payments.Life in the slow lane1 -

However, I think you have to be pragmatic. If after obtaining the lowest possible price, do you derive a worthwhile benefit from your subscription? If so, do it. Then, if you can be bothered, by all means campaign for change - but don't hold your breath!0 -
