Commission on vat

I used a loss assessor for a fire damage claim. We agreed a percentage fee. Are they right to take the fee from the vat I paid to the builder?

    This should be outlined in the terms and conditions you signed.

    I expect they will ask for a % of the claim settlement (the amount the insurer pays you) which will include VAT if the builder is VAT registered.

    Need to check your agreement but in most cases its simply the full value paid rather than net
