I recently advertised my property on booking.com and inadvertently entered the wrong bank details - one digit was wrong. As soon as I realised I amended the details but two payments had been paid. I contacted one of their customer services representatives and they said the payment would bounce back an I would eventually get paid. Since then I have been hitting a brick wall....my messages through the extranet are answered by robots and just don't make sense and when I phone they say they will phone back or just hang up. My bank advised that if the money had been paid to a wrong account it could be recalled so if it didn't bounce back there is still a solution. Anyone else have this happen to them? Any ideas?

Misdirected payments can't simply be recalled if they reach a valid account - the recipient has to be contacted and effectively asked for consent, a process for which about a month is allowed. However, this is a process that has to be initiated by the payer, so if the payment doesn't bounce back directly then it'll be a more complex discussion to sort out who's going to tidy up the mess....0
