The key thing as I understand it is the question of how many hours it is required for the self-employed to work. Anyone know the default number of hours used to calculate MIF for someone outside of the 12 month transitional period?
35 hours x National Living Wage - notional amount for tax and NI. Both parties in a couple, even if one is employed, will have a MIF. The MIF can be adjusted for someone with health problems or caring responsibilities.

Carers or people with LCW/RA will not be subject to the MIF, as they're not in the all work requirements group and therefore can't be deemed gainfully self-employed.
People with main responsibility for a child aged 3-12 would have an MIF based on 30hrs x NMW in the calculation.
For everyone else it's 35 x NMW as you've detailed.
