Wrong address on energy websites

in Energy
I've been through the process of getting two addresses corrected through the energy ombudsman on ecoes and xoserve that was caused by British Gas using the wrong addreses. I have been told I have to contact each company to get the data updated on energy websites.
Comparisons sites all updated the data but companies like Eon, EDF and octopus said they can't update it.
Does anyone know where they pull the data from. It is not the postoffice address file.
I have sent over 100 emails trying to get the overall issues sorted so you can imagine how time consuming this is.
I don't understand why they are ignorant of the issue. I've asked them to contact the website or development team but they are reluctant to do that.
Surely the website address data can be refreshed or re cached.
