Travel Insurance - Pre Existing Conditions

Does anyone know what category 'Acute kidney Injury warning stage' should go on the medical screening form for travel insurance?  The only categories that remotely fit this description on the drop down menu are 'Kidney Impairment' or 'Kidney Damage'. I have had no actual diagnosis and my kidneys are monitored annually (routinely) by a blood sample due to medication taken for High Blood Pressure.  The GP has never even discussed this warning with me.   My husband has the exact same description on his records.  Whenever I have asked potential insurers they say they don't know as they are not medically trained. It seems that the category for a warning is missing. Thanks for any help

Kidney Damage and Kidney Impairment seem to trigger the identical secondary questions and premiums. Acute Kidney Failure used to be called Acute Renal Failure which also isn't on the lists but Renal Failure is which again asks the same sub questions (forgot the premiums on the previous tests but appeared to be the same ball park)

For belts and braces you'd ask your doctor but seems they are all being treated similarly.

Definitely ask your doctor. Do you have a way to email the surgery? We have a system where non urgent, follow up questions can be asked by email and it's useful. It would also give you a reply in writing so there can be no doubt.
It would depend on where you are now, what the effect would be should you be affected while away and how long it would take to develop I'm guessing. Also is it just regular fairly far apart testing for reaction to the medication which you make it sound like or sudden serious onset potential.
Think of it as if it was you betting your money on someone - would they fall ill or not? If someone had the potential to need serious treatment and repatriation while ill that runs into many thousands.
So the more specific information you can get the better. I'd also be inclined to make enquiries about insurance with a company who are more clued up. Some specialise in covering pre existing conditions. It would at least give you some idea about how they view it so you can try and negotiate with some that cost less.........but be careful with that.

My wife had that on her medical record following routine blood tests.  It didn't show on the follow up blood tests taken a week later and hasn't shown on any since.  My understanding is that this is recorded if one of the blood readings is outside 'normal' range.
As with the OP this was never mentioned by the GP and it was only by reading her own records that my wife knew why additional tests had been done.

Similar here. It was only when GP recently completed a form for a travel insurance claim, he included chronic kidney something (I forget actual term) on the list of known conditions DH has. Previously, we'd only declared high blood pressure although DH knew kidney function was always tested for at his medication reviews as, we believe it's a known side effect.

DH did ask GP about it and he said there's a scale of deterioration and, fortunately, his is at a level considered safe for him to continue with current prescription.
