Out of contract with Virgin

Options
Today l got not one but two fantastic deals from virgin media.
My own package, TV, Phone and Broadband.
Was £106.50 per month
Now £70.00 per month
My step son who lives alone but is handicapped. Confined to a motorised wheelchair, had a monthly bill of over £160.00 per month. Phone, TV, Broadband.
His bill had been exculating with out us noticing.
After a calm phone call to Virgin, speaking to two different service agents they reduced his bill to £94.00 and kept him on the same package.
I made no threat to leave, l just asked them to find me the best deal.
Both agents were extreamly helpful and made the whole ordeal very easy and acceptable. Im not sure if l had said l will leave would have gained an even better deal, but l felt they did the best they could.
I saved £438 per year
My stepson saved £792 per year.
If you are out or nearly out of contract MAKE THAT CALL

Bear in mind you will almost certainly have a built in price hike somewhere down the line so you won't save £438/£792 over the year.

Without knowing what products you take ( and your stepson ) it’s impossible to know if the price reduction now represents value for money , £70 a month and £94 a month  is still a lot of money , what’s more if the prices after the reduction ,are now  reasonable value for money , that means you ( and your stepson ) were paying way  more than necessary , for who knows how long .

Although ( obviously ) paying less for the same is desirable, I’m not sure the way  it was  arrived at is necessarily something to be happy about , and not particularly worthy of praising  Virgin , TBH , if I had a bill of £160 a month , and VM reduced it to £94 , I would be more likely to be asking how did they justify charging £160 for so long  if they can so easily reduce it by more than 40% at a stroke , and would not be claiming that they were wonderful  for offering the reduced price , but as stated , it’s a little moot , without knowing what’s being provided for the money and being able to compare it to what competitors are charging  for the same products.

TBH , if someone was getting punched in the face and kicked you in the nuts , and the assailant  then stopped the kicking but maintained the punches, it’s hardly a cause for celebration by the victim and it would be strange if they now consider  the assailant it ‘a good guy’ because the violence being inflicted is less

As long as you're happy with the deal, that's all that matters.
