go through customs again ?       Do you think I can make it ,    I realise it is a bit tight

You won't have to go through 'customs' but will need to go fully landside and then through security and passport control, or at least that was my experience of 'transiting' through Stansted a few years ago.  I'd say that if this is a self-connection (as opposed to a proper through booking where the airline would be responsible for rebooking you if you missed a connection that they were selling) then it would be a pretty risky exercise.

It's very tight [unless as eskbanker says, it is part of a combined booking with the airline]. Given the gate closes for the onward flight 30 minutes before departure that gives you just half an hour or so to de-plane, get through security again and make it to the gate.

You might make it, if you're extremely lucky but I wouldn't risk it myself.

  • Too much risk for me to try something like that.

    What's Plan B?
Things that are differerent: draw & drawer, brought & bought, loose & lose, dose & does, payed & paid

Would wager its Easyjet first leg and then either Jet2 or Ryanair for the second leg.

OP, how are you looking to book this? If you are using a 3rd party site, and the suggestion is you will defo make that transfer, I would think twice.

All it needs to happen is you get a seat in the middle of the plane, or they get a stand on landing at STN that requires you to get a bus to a domestic gate, or a 10 minute delay at GLA, and you could be screwed.
  • With self connections it is very much a case of the longer the better.  If everything were to run smoothly, I reckon you would probably just make it, helped by having no hold baggage.  If anything does go wrong though, then it will be up to you to pick up the pieces, and this might involve significant delays and costs.  It is very much a balancing act for you to weigh up, but my own thoughts would be for a minimum of three hours, but then I am quite risk averse.
If on the other hand you have been issued with a through ticket and it meets published minimum connecting times, then if all goes pear shaped the onward carrier will be responsible for sorting you out.

Just a comment about one of the posts above, I am unaware of any UK airport that requires departing passengers to go through 'passport control'.  I've been through both Leeds and Heathrow recently, and neither of those did.

I wasn't sure about that. When I arrived into a UK airport (Manchester, Birmingham) from Guernsey it was possible to just "walk out" without any passport check, but it still involved quite a long walk to end up in the same place.

Stansted is a separate domestic arrivals area, accessed on foot from certain gates only. If the plane doesnt land at any of these gates, they bus them to a domestic one, which can add time.

Yes, I put that, but think you're right, passport control is only involved when going from international arrival to domestic departure, not the other way round.
  • I did the GLA - STN 07:00 flight two weeks ago (its a lovely 26C here in the Peliponese) but my onward flight to Greece wasn't until the afternoon. If everything runs to time you might just make this connection (got priority security pass?) but tbh, no way would I book this itinerary unless there was no other choice.

Too many things out of your control could add delays and the stress ain't worth it.

Have you already booked? Last trip to Athens was easiest direct from EDI.
