Card details saved with stripe.com

in Credit cards
I have just completed a booking for a restaurant which couldn’t take payment of the deposit by credit card over the phone, but sent me a payment link. After I’d put in my card and personal details, there was no way to progress the payment without saving my card details through an entity called “stripe.com”.
I prefer never to save my card details even for a trusted vendor. I’ve never used this restaurant before, and am unlikely to do so ever again. Looking at the “stripe.com” website, they seem to take payment for a number of businesses.
Please can someone advise:
1 is my card exposed to fraud/scam and if so what can I do about it?
2 is there any way to deregister my card details from this organisation?
3 who are “stripe.com” anyway? Are they safe and of good reputation?

Well, yes, the first thing I did, of course, was look at their website, as I’d never heard of them before, and they seem to offer the service for every Tom Richard and Harry to take payment. Knowing nothing of them, I found it a bit concerning. I’ve never heard of this sort of payment arrangement before, so I’m trying to find out how safe it is, how likely I am to be the subject of fraud or scams.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

As safe as they can be. They are just like many of the other payment processers out there for small retailers.Life in the slow lane1

Stripe are as safe as any other payment provider and will be subject to the same robust checks and balances, but there's always a small possibility of a hack that could expose your details, although the possibility is probably less than you being mugged or burgled or simply losing your card.
You've probably used Stripe before for individual card payments but just not realised it.
They will probably have a way of deleting your account with them.1 -
Thank you, kind people. 🌹 I appreciate your taking time to comment.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

The vendor does not have access to your details. This will just be saved to your stripe link, just like you can chose to save your card details to amazon etc.We use stripe in our business (card payments on taxi app).I personally have access to the payment logs, so I can process refunds etc, but I can only see last 4 digits of the card used and no other card details. I don't have any thing like expiry or name on card.Debt Free as of 17/01/2009 Turtle Power!!

If anything it should give you more confidence that the data is being held by a highly regulated multinational who will know and follow (if not exceed) all requirements around data security on card data -v- some random local restaurant that you've no idea what security or not protocols they have.
If you want them to delete your data you follow the process on their website https://support.stripe.com/questions/i-would-like-to-delete-the-information-stripe-has-collected-from-me1 -
Thanks @x_raphael_xx and @DullGreyGuy. I’ve never noticed this firm before (not the world’s most active shopper, online or in real life). I felt bounced and trapped into saving my details with them because there was no means of completing the transaction with the restaurant without doing so.
Thank you for your helpful comments.
Also, thank you @DullGreyGuy for pointing me to the exit door.“Tomorrow is another day for decluttering.”Decluttering 2023 🏅🏅🏅🏅⭐️⭐️

I've got a similar setup with one of the generic shop front checkout processes, they store your details and use 2FA to pull them from a central database for the shops that don't have their own checkout process. It's fairly common for merchants to avoid paying for their own system and you'll see it more as they buy each other up. Shopify, WorldPay, Stripe etc
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
