Admiral Car insurance ,,, unauthorised debits

I have never used or been a customer of Admiral insurance ,,, yet a week ago £3814.33p was debited from my HSBC bank account ??? putting me £2108. 65p in unauthorised overdraft !!!!!
i contacted HSBC who tried to recall the unauthorised transaction but were unable to do so as they said it was Pre Authorised renewal of a motor policy ??????
I then contacted Admiral who at first refused to speak with me as im could not produce a policy number relating to their charge as I am not their customer ???
Catch 22 .. i managed to escalate this by finally getting through to a senior supervisor at Admiral,, and also Escalating it with HSBC ...
Finally yesterday the money was returned to my account . HSBC and I have not received an explanation from Admiral , who have admitted I have never been a customer , so how did they get my bank details ??? What actually happened .No compensation has been offered !!!
Insurance and Banking Ombudsman have been informed,, HSBC have been helpful and have not charged me for unauthorised Overdraft ,,, It was not a fraud by a 3rd party this was all done inside Admiral , HSBC have made a formal complaint too , seems the Pre-existing Insurance Policy renewal system can be abused ... BUT I and no one in my Family has ever been a customer of Admiral or any of its known subsidaries ???
I need an explanation.
