Internal oak engineered doors

I had new oak internal doors fitted a few years ago but I put a dark stainer on them. Apart from removing them and rubbing them down, is there any other way I could remove the dark stain to make them lighter. I have heard that i could take them to the garden and jet wash them? I'm not too sure about that.
Kind regards Jeff
