Would it be worth raising this with your MP?

Considering they like snail mail so much, I'd call them up and ask them to send any statements by post. If you are lucky you may receive them before the Jan 31st deadline. If not, you can estimate the NS&I figures to avoid a late submission penalty and then correct your tax return after you've submitted it when they arrive or your access issue has been fixed.kiziandsmudge said:My written complaint was replied with a curt reply advising me to contact the Financial Ombudsman, but this does not help me to obtain access to my account or details which I need to complete tax return. Phone calls are prolonged and unhelpful.0 -
I beleive NS&I is the most inefficient financial organisation around. Four years ago we had a long saga of son trying to to get a temporary password to access his JISA when he turned 18, sent identity documents which they returned and acknowledged but never sent the password. For 3 months more phone calls and more registration forms, stuck in a loop. Action only followed a letter/email headed FORMAL COMPLAINT. They paid compensation. If they won't respond go to the Ombudsman.Good advice above about estimating the amount for tax return and correcting later.Would never go near them again. They need a root and branch overhaul starting at the top.1

Having used NSI for a while, have kept with them a full holding @ Premium bonds, withdrawn some and re-deposited. Quite an efficient cand good system. Could advise to use a power of attorney if struggling for some time..0

Does the use of power of attorney allow the attorney to bypass their faulty IT systems?Mihhail said:Having used NSI for a while, have kept with them a full holding @ Premium bonds, withdrawn some and re-deposited. It seems NS&I are using the power of the Internet to complicate any transaction. Having completely fouled up my cashing in of a load of odds and sods, trying to top up with new purchases is a nightmare. I am registered, but my landline number was out of date. Only by jumping through a variety of hoops am I able to re-register. I bank online ; the banks security is no where near as draconian as NS&I. A product of too many idle thumbs being twiddled.0
