thanks very much!! the reason i dont want a travel system thing is cos the research suggests that being stuck in a car seat all day isnt good for bubba. my friend is giving me her hardly used tot carrier so that will do for the car. teh bad feedback i saw about the loola was that it was too wide. waht do the other loola owneres think about that?
love you lots like jelly tots :o

  • i dont find my loola too wide, but i had a huge all in one thing before. to be honest you need to go try out each system in the shop, as everyone has different requirements, some people hate the loola as the shopping basket is too small, but ive always prefferred the comfort of my child over the size of a shopping basket !
  • I don't find my loola too wide and to be honest my 2 yr old still has plenty of room in it so that is important too as she is the one sitting in it and I know I wont need to buy anything else for her between now and not using one at all.

Sorry I went on so much earlier! I think it depends what you class as a travel system
    a. A chassis which has each element on seperately (ie carrycot, carseat as seat etc)
    or
    b. A normal buggy with a carseat on top of it that lifts out.

With the former you would maybe have the carseat in use on it more which you don't want, but with the other you just use it flat with the carseat just being used for car journeys. I may be being old fashioned and going with b as it's less new fangled and complicated, plus we were bumpkins who didn't drive first time round :o
If you already have a carseat then no need to buy one again, but I would check that you are happy that the seat has had no strains/sudden jolts etc. If in doubt I'd get a new one.
The only other thing I can mention is do a mental tally when you are on buses (if you use them) and shopping etc as to which mums struggle with aisle widths/doors etc and factor this into your decision. Also see how any kids having tantrums are held in buggies too, as from what has been said on the Quinny thread, some rock and tip etc. Hopefully you won't have a nutter son like I have and half of the things I've waffled on about will be irrelevant!

If you get one with a carry cot as well the baby won't be in the car seat for long periods. They are quite a few out there with different components, however they are quite bulky so you may struggle in a Micra.

I have a Hauck infinity, bears a lot of similarities to the Bugaboo. It has a carry cot which can then be swapped for a seat unit that can be forward or rear facing. The chassis does fold very small and has quick release wheels so may fit in your boot easily, although the carrycot in bulkier (as it would be on any make/model). I paid £175 for mine but had to get the raincover and footmuff seperately. It's £199 now.
