Executor ID and house sale

Options
Hi all. I need advice. My dad died in March 24. His three children are executors. We have probate granted in July 24 and received an offer on his house in August.

My question is about ID and conveyancing solicitor. We live in different parts of the country. My sister and I had to complete a complicated online ID check with driving licence, passport, bank statement and utility bill. We also had to provide a bill or similar showing our names and address and my dad's name and address in the same document to prove a link to the house.

The problem is my brother has undiagnosed autism. He wanted to act as sn executor. Since my dad died he's fallen apart and can't find any ID documents in his house.

All I have is a picture of a driving licence, a utility bill that I changed to his address ftom mine and a copy of the executors bank account with all of our names on. I foot have the exact items they are after
To complicated matters I haven't seen him in over 30 years. I'm trying to help him but I'm also autistic, disabled and s carer for a SEN child.

So they really need all of this ID? He's named in the grant of probate at his current address and on the will.

^ As above, he needs to provide it if he wishes to be an executor.

Alternatively he could just step down and reserve his powers. Being an executor is a serious business with legal obligations and penalties if the duties are not carried out correctly. Two executors, you and your sister, are quite sufficient to do the job. Three is unusual.

To be frank, if he can't cope with establishing his own ID then he is not really up to being an executor. It is understandable that he wants to take part in winding up Dad's affairs but there are plenty of tasks which will need to be done which he could help with without the stress of formally being an executor.

Sadly because he has already been involved he can't step down now without going through the courts.

Thank you for confirming that he needs the ID. I've asked him to ask his letting agent if he can have copies of the ID HD gave them. He's rented a house from them for years and they also marketed my dad's house. Conveyancer was one they recommended.

My ID was difficult too as thry kept asking for more. I have everything but it took forever
