Gmail 'queued in outbox'..? Help!

I have been transferring various photos I've taken with my android smartphone over the last couple of years to my hotmail account which I access by PC. I use gmail on my phone to do this and it's always worked without a hitch. In other words I send from my gmail account to my hotmail account.

Suddenly today I find the message 'queued in outbox' and it doesn't seem to be sending. Anyone help me with this?

has it cleared yet?
photos are large (videos are larger) and perhaps they really are just queued until they slowly leave your outbox.

Why not use Google photos app

Can be easily accessed by phone and pc without this

Or upload to Google drive from phone, then download to computer & delete off drive.

That's the way I do it, although really important photos also stay on drive.
