Reusing E10 heater cable

Hi
I need to renovate a cupboard that has this Economy 10 switch cluster in the wall. It's from a warm air heater that I've taken out.
There's two feeds. An off peak 10mm
cable and 24hr 4mm.

I'd like to, if possible use the 24hr cable for a socket, maybe for a water softener. Both cables come from above and then out underneath and are on 60a and 15a fuses which I've removed.
Just wondering if it's doable as the cable may not quite reach the new switch.
Any help appreciated.

It sounds like you're planning a thoughtful and practical renovation. Before proceeding, it's crucial to ensure that the existing 24-hour cable is suitable for the intended load and complies with local electrical regulations. If you're considering using this cable for a socket, especially for appliances like a water softener, here are a few steps to consider:

    1. Check the Cable's Current Rating: Ensure that the 4mm cable can handle the expected load. For a 13A socket, this should generally be sufficient, but it's always best to verify.

    2. Inspect the Fuse Rating: The 15A fuse you've removed should be replaced with an appropriate fuse for the new circuit, considering the load and cable size.

    3. Verify Cable Length: Since you mentioned the cable may not quite reach the new switch, ensure you have enough length to make a safe and secure connection. If not, extending the cable should be done with proper connectors and in accordance with safety standards.

    4. Consider Professional Advice: If you're unsure about any aspect of this project, it's advisable to consult with a qualified electrician. They can provide guidance tailored to your specific situation and ensure that all work complies with safety regulations.
