I just noticed I've had a hard credit check from my insurer for renewing my home insurance.
Is this usual - I paid monthly last year and am doing so again this time.

Paying monthly is usually a credit agreement so a hard check may be carried out, not that unusual.2

All monthly payments for insurance are loans - the firm pays it and you repay them, that's why you have to pay up to the end of the contract in the event of a crash and write off for exampleN20Y1D said:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.
