My dad is over for the holidays from singapore.

He wants to use my cable broadband (wired NOT wi-fi) on his laptop and i thought it would be a matter of just unplugging the ethernet and plugging it into his laptop, but it wont work, can anyone tell us how we can do this?

I hope you get what i am trying to say im not that techie thats all!!!

You must reboot the cable modem so that it can forget the MAC address of your PC and recognise the MAC address of your dad's laptop.

You will need to reboot the cable modem each time you swap it back and forth.

So basically switch off cable modem and laptop. Switch on cable modem till all leds are ready and then siwtch on laptop/pc.

turn off the cable modem and then back on, it should work. i had the same problem when a friend of mine was over and was using my connection.
