Car Insurance Renewal Increase Advice

Hello,
Got my car insurance renewal in, almost 50% more expensive than last year. Its almost at the point I can't afford it!
I'm hopeless at these things, but has anyone successfully got this year's renewal price reduced? Any tips would be appreciated!

Not me no
i did the comparison sites and chose Tesco0 -
Head over to the comparison sites, my prices varied considerably on those too.
Eventually went through Topcashback and received £45 back on a £300 premium with RAC.0 -
Use a comparison site to narrow down the best quotes but then use the insurance company's own sites.

Thanks all! Is there a best time period within the 30 day period before renewal to look?

Around 21-23 days out for many gives the best prices. Insurers see people who plan ahead as less risk than those who wait until the last minute.
Also remember that low price is not always good. You get the bottom dwellers like Hastings and OneCall who look for ways to make you pay more once you have signed up and have pretty poor services if you are unfortunate to have to make a claim. Take service reputation into account alongside price.0 -
Thank you for all the advice. I shopped around and renewed for £550!!!My current insurer wanted 1300 quid to renew0
