US Dollar accounts in UK??

Hi can anyone help??

I need to open a USDollar account here in the UK, but is there any that has very little or no charges.......which are the best ones..
Been looking at Citibank and Barclays and both charge quite a bit for depositing USDollars into the account..

Any help appreciated...thanks

Most UK banks will operate dollar accounts for you but they will be offshore.
As you have seen most that offer free or next to free accounts require large minimum balances.

Can we ask why you have to have an account in Dollars?

Cos I trade in forex and its all in US dollars but to convert it back to Pounds would mean I loose out on the exchange rate

LTSB offshore will let you have a debit card in $ if you want but as I said before the account is not free.

I have a stirling current and deposit accounts, dollar current (with cheque book) and dollar savings account, and a euro current account. I can switch the visa debit card to debit any one of the current accounts in real time, and also make real time transfers between all accounts. All for £10 month fee, which includes interest free £500 overdraft, worldwide travel insurance and mobile phone insurance. I manage to make pretty good value from this arrangement as euro and dollar withdrawals are free and at a competitive rate.

this probably isnt what you want but i use a lloyds tsb travel money card to pay my US Hosting bills.
