Warm Home Discount & Credit When Switching Providers

I made the switch from EDF to Octopus on the 30th of September, catching it just before the price cap rise.

I am eligible for the Warm Home Discount, and applied for it pretty soon after EDF opened up applications (around about the 17th of September-ish) because we thought we would be staying with EDF but then changed our minds.

Do I need to apply again through Octopus now, or will the application naturally migrate over with my switch? I got a letter today from EDF thanking me for my application for the Warm Home Discount. Octopus have sent me an email to say that the switch is now complete, but EDF haven't acknowledged the switch yet.

And what happens to the credit on my account, will that migrate over to my Octopus account, or will I need to ask EDF to refund that to my bank account?

Thanks.

(I have tried emailing Ocotpus customer services to ask, but they haven't gotten back to me - which doesn't bode well!)

Can't answer your first question, but any credit with EDF won't transfer to Octopus.

I don't know exactly how they go about it but your supplier on the qualifying date in August (EDF for you) are responsible for getting the WHD to you.

Hi, have you managed to get the WHD at all? I have received from my old provider (SO) an email saying that my WHD arrived and has been applied to my account. However I swichted to Eon a month ago.

Thank you for your reply. I checked and I have already received a final bill and the credit I held in my account has been returned to me via bank transfer. My account now shows £150 credit. Would they do another transfer automatically or I should contact them? By the way, I had forgotten about the WHD and switched providers. I just hope I dont miss the WHD as this will offset any gain and I end up worse off by switching. Perhaps that info should be included in the MSE website when they talk about switching energy providers. Thank you
