Or is it only for commercial properties?

You can use it but it's hard to get hold of now with the specific licence.
It's nasty stuff though and can stain basin fittings and some acrylics / enamel etc.
I used to use it before the restrictions but I've found that just using a pipe snake thingy is pretty effective.
One shot can be useful on fatty blockages, but you need quite a bit of it.

The person I got it from uses it commercially to unblock drains at a bar he works at.0 -
No, it can be used in residential properties but you are required to have a EPP (explosives precursors and poisons) licence to buy it1

Her courage will change the world.
Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.1 -

The question that should be asked is why you need to use drain cleaner so regularly.Properly installed drains and correct usage should not require it.
One common problem is using the drains as a waste disposal system which they are not really designed for..
If they are needing attention post on here description of problem and layout of pipework and there will be posters with plenty of experience able to help.0 -

The drain I’m improving the flow of is my bathtub drain which gets soap scum and hair.0 -
1. Soap scum and hair are generally better broken down by alkali rather than acid cleaners. I'd try some caustic soda, cheap and cheerful from a hardware store.
2. Use it in accordance with the instructions on the packaging.
3. Under NO circumstances use it at the same time as anything else, particularly acidic or bleach products.
4. If you end up getting someone in to clear the drain, tell them everything you have put down the drain and when.2 -
