..many thanks for all the feedback. looks like it may not be possible then. They were keen to have them sit "up front" in the wheelchair.
I have see conversions for drivers in a wheelchair access from the rear, but nothing for a passenger..
Is there any reason why they can not sit in the front & just place chair in back?
Because lots of people have disabilities that make it difficult to transfer from wheelchair to car seat...?

If it was that easy, there wouldn't be a need for anybody to have a vehicle with wheelchair capability, would it?

I recall taking a wheelchair athlete to a race and he was very much able to get in and out of his chair, unaided, and his wheelchair was easily dismantled. But most are not like that.

There are companies that make and fit swing or swivel seats.

Some even utilise a special wheelchair system. So the wheelchair "chair" part clips into a frame that replaces the front seat, the "chair" then swings into the car leaving the "wheel" part behind to fit in the boot, so they don't have to get out of the chair.

I remember an episode of Car SOS doing this and it basically involved chopping the side out of the car and completely refabricating and strengthening it.  This is not something that is really practical, of course if you are willing to pay for it anything is possible.

It was a simple question. Mrs is in a wheelchair & can transfer over. But I know others can't.

I would look for something built for the Japanese domestic market with modular seating, like a Honda N-box but even if the right thing existed in Japan you could have immense trouble getting parts if/when they become necessary.

The Research Institute for Disabled Consumers have a website with all sorts of car measurements and articles https://www.ridc.org.uk/features-reviews/out-and-about/car-search

That's pretty clever, I'd only pictured a ramp coming out at 90 degrees but combining it with a sliding door and moving the B pillar to the door is genius.

I can't figure out what happens to the bottom half of the ramp though. If it folds up it'll get in the way of the restraint points at the back, unless they aren't necessary somehow.
