So, we now have the money back from the wife’s Edge saver, do we wait to see if she gets an email like I did about opening a new one, or just go on the app under Products and offers and open one from there?

Check if it is available to open. If it is then go for it.

Done, the wife has now moved £4k over at 6%. I’ll leave it a week and then if everything is ok, I’ll open a current account and re bear no DD’s, I guess I don’t need to pay in £500 a month either, I assume that’s for the cash back that I won’t get, nor the monthly fee 😀. Just stick £20 in it and forget about it?

Yes, I had an empty one, but after a couple of years they said they'd close it for being dormant, so I added £1. Expect to get several reminders that you aren't getting the full benefit of your Edge Current account - you probably already know that part.

Is everyone suffering the full 5 working day wait for actual closure of their existing Edge saver when done via the Sandi chat bot? Why it takes so long heaven knows, this is the second we've closed this way inside a month, and we can't open a new one until this one is gone.

Not the Edge saver, but I had a lot of hassle trying to close an unused empty cash ISA via the chat bot. Took three attempts before they finally got the job done.

Last week I opened a Santander Edge Current account in my own name, no DD’s, no regular payments in or out. Today I’ve opened an Edge saver in my own name, so that gives me 2 and the wife 1. I’m going to leave it a mo th and then if everything is ok, I’ll move the DD’s from our joi t current account and the regular payments, £500. Thanks for everyone’s help. If there are any issues, I will come back and post here.

I might be wrong but I thought once you had triggered the monthly fee then it would continue even if you deleted direct debits and stopped the £500 payment in?

Yes, once triggered you can't stop them without closing the account.

That's a bummer, I'll see if it's worth moving the DD'S or not. We currently get @ £2.60 a month back and £3 fee. I don't suppose that if I contact them they could remove the trigger for the charge? I can't close the joint current account is only that for the edge saver
