Why You Should Think Twice Before Taking Out Tesco Pet Insurance

Based on my recent experience, I would not recommend Tesco Pet Insurance for several reasons:

1. Lack of Transparency: Tesco is not clear on what is actually covered under their policies. Despite having insurance, I found out too late that certain injuries, like cruciate ligament issues, were not fully covered. Even though my dog had no underlying conditions, Tesco refused to pay out a significant portion of the claim.

2. No Online Policy Access: Unlike many other providers, Tesco does not offer an online portal where you can easily access your policy details or make changes. The only way to see your policy is through the document they send in the post, which is inconvenient and outdated.

3. Poor Customer Service: You are required to speak to someone every time you need assistance, which can be frustrating and time-consuming, especially when trying to understand complex policy terms. In my experience, the communication was unclear and unhelpful.

4. Hidden Exclusions: Tesco seems to have broad and vague terms when it comes to what they consider an "underlying condition." This allowed them to avoid paying for my dog’s treatment, despite evidence from vets showing there were no pre-existing issues.

I am now £2,800 out of pocket and deeply disappointed with their service. Before you choose Tesco Pet Insurance, consider the potential hassle and financial burden of a denied claim.

You do have the option of following their complaints procedure and then taking it to the ombudsman? 
What underlying condition did they use to not pay out for the cruciate?
