My own spreadsheet calculation from January to now using monthly readings supplied to Octopus are 1p adrift should I be concerned ?
I just got my latest bill and I owe them a penny LESS than I thought I did according to my own spreadsheet. Woo! Hoo! A spending spree beckons! Often happens that we disagree by as much as 3p. All down to rounding, and on the gas calculation the current calorific value.
I can generally make the electricity statements match exactly to my spreadsheets by playing around with the rounding at different points. But that rarely works on the gas units to kWh calculations shown, as the statements do say the average CV is shown in the formula, and not what is actually used in their calculation. The statements (across multiple suppliers) are never out by any more than a few pennies either way over a month and pretty much cancel themselves out over a year IME.
