Hello,

I'm in a need of some advice please.

I went to collect a new car and the interior seat colour wasn't what I had wanted or asked for.  I've already paid for the car prior to collection.  The garage can source me a new factory built car with delivery in a couple of months.  Whilst this would be inconvenient it is doable my end.

They want to refund my payment and I suspect renegotiate the price as I assume my trade in will be worth less in 2 months time.

Is it unreasonable of me to expect that they honour the price?

I have an email trail that details the seat colour that I wanted and confirmation from them of the car details (minus any mention of seat colour) and price agreed.

I was hoping someone might have an idea of what is a reasonable expectation on my part.

Rather than suspecting why not ask them for clarification? The return of your monies is more likely not to disadvantage you over lost interest than renegotiating the deal.

They are ultimately bound by the contract so if you ask them and you dont like the answer then read the contract you signed with them and see if the terms allow them to do what they are proposing.

I appreciate it is not what you ordered but is the seat colour completely unacceptable?
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

Being refunded the payment at least protects you in the event of the supplying business ceasing to trade.

Simply state that you expect the original price to be honoured.
