  • Flat lemonade works well too.

Hope you all soon feel better. x

my other half thinks im nuts when i send him out for lemonade when ive been sick! I have to stir it to get all the fizz out before i drink it. Its what my mum always gave to me when I was sick when I was little.
  • i had this last week too and DD has it and now my mum. Small sips often stays down the best and the odd bit of ice lolly ( i couldnt keep it all down if i had more than a little). Feel better soon x

    Hi
I've been struggling with this for the last couple of days and am now at the stage of feeling hungry but still feeling sick.
Can anyone recommend what type of food I should begin eating with. I have some leek & potato soup in the fridge, or should it be just toast or something. I have been drinking plenty of water but feel a bit weak.
    Thanks

If its the same bug that hit my side of Lincolnshire then this one knocked me out for 6 for a day and the following few days after I was off food for a while.

We had coke (drink) and they did the trick as it gives the fluids and sugar you need back.. but its frighteing how much fluid you lose over this bug.

All I honestly say - it was no fun throwing up in the cab of the lorry over the top of the peak district (the 1st wave when it happened) - employer wasn't pleased, but it happened so quick :)

I had it 2 weeks ago... probably the worst i've felt ever... I was unbelievably dehydrated but couldnt keep any water down.

Luckily it only lasted 3 days... couldnt really stomach proper food for a good week after though, only just getting my appetite back.

I woke up at 6.30 am on Boxing Day feeling really sick. It was my birthday too!! We were at my son's house and I was nearly sick on the way home on the M62. I managed to keep it down somehow but was sick when I got home. I had a horrible day and did I say IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY.

My husband came down with in a couple of days later. His worst problem was diarrhea, he was only sick a couple of times. Now over a week later, I still feel sickly and off. I am eating more or less normally but getting indisgestion and heartburn which I never normally do.

What a miserable new year for us all. I have not had a drink (alcoholic) since Christmas day. In fact the only thing I am drinking is water, either warm or cold depending on the time of day.

We both kept well away from our families. My parents are in their 80's and I have a 4 month old granddaughther. I am touching wood and saying they have been OK up to now.
  • i had the vomitting bug too (fri 14th dec) i remember cos i was in the middle of watching a panto with my kids! i left halfway thru and got home just as i starting spewing, in between vomiting i shivered like crazy, took me 3 full days to get over it. i knew straightaway it was the sick bug as at least 10 children from my little ones playgroup had spewed in december (including my child) i cant believe how its sweeping the country. i'd heard about the flat coke before but forgot, i'll def try it next time i'm sick.
    totally a tog!:D

Hell of a way to kick start the new years resolution to loose weight though!

Plus - I'm a bit blocked up due to giving up smoking so could do with a way to flush out the toxins! (sorry is that too much information?)

Seriously - with 7 kids (we foster - only one is mine :j) in the house aged from 3 to 10 - we just pray that we keep it away from this house - the last time we had a "bug" was straight after a bout of chicken pox during the easter holidays - my OH and I were like tag wrestlers taking it in turns to mop up after the kids or "look after" our own "needs" - one of the kids we had then had severe Cerebal Palsey so was unable to aim anything anywhere useful .

I recently bought a load of Spirigel alcohol hand gel (as used in hospitals) on ebay and give everyone a squirt of that after hand washing but have, JIC, got plenty of dyrolyte and immodium (for us) stashed away!
    - so far so good but we live in dread having just got the "little darlings" back to school after a two week "holiday"! So far all we have had to contend with is the usual infestation of nits - they've only been back 2 days!!!!

with D&V you need to use soap and water not alcohol gels
