Consumer Energy pricing scandal
On 1 August 24 I signed up to EonNext Pledge Tracker 12M v5 from a previous version. It was supposed to be tracking the Price Cap less 3%
Eon never advised me of the energy rate change approaching 1/10/24
After complaining to Eon they reluctantly gave me screenshots of all their revised tariffs
To my horror I discovered that my dual fuel direct debit electricity tariff per kWh was increasing by 16.667% and my gas by 20%
How is an energy company allowed to raise its prices without giving customers proper notice
UK Prices are increasing despite wholesale prices decreasing.
Remember French Nationalised Energy increased charges by only 4% whilst we increased by 57% during the first stage of the Covid crisis.
France has just reduced its charges by 15%.
It’s time to nationalise our Energy industry & abolish OFGEN. They do not protect or support the customer.

So you chose a tariff that was directly linked to the price cap (which changes every 3 months) and were then surprised when the price of that tariff changed in line with the published price cap?
It sounds like what you really want is a fixed tariff, where the rates remain the same for the entire duration of the tariff. It also helps not to exclusively talk in percentages with this sort of thing - use the actual rates. A “20%” increase in gas rates could be a much less dramatic sounding 1p/kWh, and todays price cap is approximately half of what it was this time just 2 years ago.Certainly it’s a failure on Eon’s part if they failed to inform you in good time, but that’s hardly a scandal.Moo…5 -
The scandal is that the new energy minister is still asleep...0

I would hardly saying that the energy minister not bowing to your entirely unreasonable demands is being asleep.2
