I suspect that the majority of people do not use comping sites so as a marketing tool it is something that may well appeal particularly to their actual customers as well as being something that may be of intertest to others (non-compers)

If I was generally interested, this would put me off and might actually lose me as a subscriber too.
I've found some great products and companies from entering competitions.

A - 'Thank you for entering our competition, sorry you weren't successful at the main prize, but a small handful of people have been selected for a 20% discount' - would go down much better to me and might actually generate a sale and interest.

But yes @Blulu I understand your frustration! I had one the other day that said Congratulations, then again congratulations to the winners, I had to really look through the email to find the winners names, and yep, not me 🤣

Agree, Ms Dee. I think it’s terrible marketing. What they are doing is making everyone on that mailing list, except for one winner, feel disappointed, angry and deceived/foolish. That would put me off the company, regardless. And, as you say, the more prolonged, the worse we feel about the company.

I don’t mind the way Snizl do it, where they mail and say, “A competition you entered has finished, click here to see if you have won.” Because I don’t feel ‘tricked’ by them.
