Lloyds Bank delayed transactions

Recently the android app and online portal has shown a change for the worse. I use Lloyds as my major hub for movement of funds to/from other banks and savings providers. Lloyds used to show BACS transfers 15 mins after midnight, SO out actioned 30 mins after midnight, and DD actioned 1 hour after midnight.
Now Lloyds don't show any credits/debits for at least 40 minutes. Today they hadn't actioned any SO or DD by 01:45.
Even HSBC is quicker than that, having completed all SO and DD  by 01:45, and they are notoriously slow.
I'm having to reconsider which bank I use as my major hub. Will Halifax/BoS follow Lloyds lead? NatWest are very very slow at updating their app and I'm having problems making substantial payments anyway so they're not in contention.
So it looks like Nationwide as their payments are made very quickly after midnight. Alternately i could use HSBC as they provide a large overdraft and seldom stop any of my large payments.
Any views on Virgin or TSB?  I'm a long time customer, but don't use them for any of my major banking.
I like to check my accounts in the early hours so that I have plenty of time to make any corrections when I wake in the morning.

As long as faster payments are processed in pretty much real time - which Lloyds does - I can't see any problems with those routine DDs and SOs being all done and dusted no later than the time normal people get up :)

Bank of Scotland is the same - all part of the Lloyd's group of course. It's been acknowledged on Twitter so they're aware of it.

Start using a spreadsheet then you'll able to preempt matters. Rather than being reactive.

I was in both Lloyds and BOS earlier this morning and both were fine - now they're not.
  • I have a spreadsheet showing all my current accounts that's fully automated and showing the next three months. I just need to confirm that the bank accounts match the figures in the spreadsheets because I run my current accounts on zero balance (or to the free overdraft limit). Occasionally, some DD are taken early or outside the expected amount (like Vodafone and British Gas) and sometimes the payment isn't made at all.
I find that online accounts rarely fall over in the early hours of a working day but occasionally don't function in the daytime.

I noticed this happening last week, usually instant but they were delayed. Been fine since though

If you don't want to use HSBC for this purpose, I would suggest Santander.
