Should I submit my EDF meter readings now or wait until mid-October?

Options
Hi all… Just a quick question I’m with EDF & send in meter readings round about the middle of each month I know the price cap starts tomorrow October 1st …. So I’ve took the readings for gas & electric do I submit them now and await the new bill middle of October or would I get a bill straight away …. Hope this makes sense….. thank you in advance for any help

Submit them now if you have a non smart meter or you will get an estimate.
  • If you submit them now you'll get a more accurate reading for the changeover. Otherwise they'll estimate it, which may, or may not, be in your favour. There may still be a small difference between what you submit and what appears on the bill because they still have to "adjust" to midnight, tonight.

In the morning if you’re not on a smart meter
  • And take a dated photo of the meters, in case of a dispute. You cannot underestimate the incompetence of EDF.

Submit them first thing in the morning (ie 1st October) - they will bill up to 30th September at the old rate.  I changed from mid-month readings to first day so that it falls into line with the quarterly price adjustments.  Makes life so easy as I used to get extra bills for part months whenever there was a price change if i submitted a reading to ensure correct units were charged at correct price.  I always photograph the meters and I never had any incompetence from EDF over the 2 years I have been a customer.
