If I sign up with eon today do I beat the Oct price rise

My partner has been paying by pay and go for gas and elec for some time with Eon.
So we phoned them today and changed it to both our names and I want to pay direct debit.
I did this and went with nextfix v27 but they said it will take five days to switch over, so I don’t seem to be beating the October price rise even thought I signed up today is this correct.

If you are switching to a fixed tariff then the October price rise is irrelevant.1

These are the prices they have given us which is more expensive then paying by pay and go so I guess I am paying the the new higher rate.Swipe said:If you are switching to a fixed tariff then the October price rise is irrelevant.Tariff name Next Fixed 12m v27 Starts from 5 October 2024 Electricity Unit rate 21.05p per kWh Standing charge 63.62p per day Exit fees £50.00 Gas Unit rate 5.54p per kWh Standing charge 31.67p per day Exit fees £50.00 0 -
PAYG is cheaper than Direct debit, so yes it will be slightly more. But that's absolutely nothing to do with the 1st October price cap rate though as it's a fixed tariff. The price will be the same as the day you agreed the switch.1

Worst case is that you pay some (4?) days at the new cap rates... from the PAYG credit(s).
In the grand scheme of things the cost difference will surely be pretty small (the fix has same standing charge rates, it's just the unit rates that will differ).
EoN might decide to recalculate the charges when applying the PAYG credit onto the DD account once the transfer is completed if asked nicely?1
