Seeking Advice on Suspended Attendance Allowance

Hello everyone,

I am reaching out to seek advice and support regarding an issue I am currently facing with my Attendance Allowance.

Background: I have been receiving Attendance Allowance from 12 February 2024 to 29 April 2024 due to Special rules. Recently, my Attendance Allowance was suspended, and despite multiple attempts to contact the relevant authorities, I have not received any replies or updates on my case.

Actions Taken:

• I have contacted the Attendance Allowance helpline multiple times but have not received any response.
• I have also reached out to my local Citizens Advice Bureau for guidance, but the issue remains unresolved.

Current Situation:

• My financial situation is becoming increasingly difficult without the support of the Attendance Allowance.
• I am unsure of the next steps to take and would greatly appreciate any advice or suggestions from those who may have faced similar issues.

Questions:

1. Has anyone experienced a similar suspension of their Attendance Allowance? If so, how did you resolve it?
2. Are there any specific contacts or departments that might be more responsive?
3. Would it be beneficial to contact a newspaper or online site to share my story and seek public support?

Have you had any correspondence from AA re the suspension?

Was your claim supported by a DS1500, if not what Special rules applied?

How long had AA been paid prior to suspension? 


Unfortunately AA won't respond to Cit A any quicker than they will respond to your queries.

Where was the DS1500/ SR1 form issued form? Sometimes I have known them query it or turn down the special rules claim if a GP has issued it. Have you spoken to anyone at AA dept or have they just been unable to give you a reason why it has been stopped?

Thank you Alice_Holt & Ruby roots. 
The form was issued by the Hospital and accompanied the application. Payment started Feb 12th and ended 29th April with no communication. I rang them 3 times with the same response that they will contact me. I have also contacted the CA. The Macmillan centre at the Cancer care centre helped me contact them they helped to apply but now they too haven't made contact.

You haven't been in hospital for more than 28 days have you ? That would be a reason for it to stop.

I only spent 1 week in hospital. Thank you for helping because I am struggling financially and the Attendance Allowance helps greatly. It is the complete lack of communication.

A few years back, I had a problem with DLA - went back and forth with DWP loosing stuff, not doing what they said. Then wrote to my MP, acted like a rocket up DWP's backside and all sorted out.  Definitely worth doing.

Did you notify them when you went into hospital and did you notify them again when you came out of hospital?

I'm just wondering, if you didn't notify them, maybe they have heard that you went into hospital but have no record of you being discharged.
