hello, i have saved (shock/horror) and brought myself a new lap top! I am now reeling in the guilt of spending so much money on it! Aside from that, I have a problem with my new toy!
When I go into youtube, it plays selected clip for approx 5 seconds before freezing. I can click on the button to drag it to another bit of the clip, and it'll work for again 5 secs before it freezes again.
I really have NO idea why this is going on. Laptop is INSPIRON 6400
it is pentium dual-core (not sure what that means). I could contact the compnay i brought it off, but I don't want to send it off or pay anymore for it to be fixed.
PS I haven't down loaded anything on to computer. it is wireless. I really only look at this site and hotmail and i was hoping youtube.
PLEASE HELP, thanks for looking.

it could be a streaming issue - sometimes I've had problems with youtube clips not playing (or other flash video clips) and its basically because the file hasn't been streamed successfully, so the video 'sticks' at a certain point. when you go into youtube and try to play a vid, there is a slider below the video which begins as a grey colour then changes to red - has this gone completely red when you have problems? if it hasn't gone completely red, wait until it does then try playing the video from the start.
it could also be that your computer (which I'm unfamiliar with) lacks the capabilities to play flash videos/allow them to be viewed, in which case there should be some free downloads available, but I'd try the first thing I suggested first.Win 2008 in 2008 member number.....237!!! Won so far: £0.00

Sounds like it's buffering the clip? You'll always miss 100% of the shots you don't take - Wayne Gretzky
Any advice that you receive from me is worth exactly what you paid for it. Not a penny more or a penny less.0 -
I had this problem not with youtube but with bbc web based iplayer programmes where my PC would lock up, I've solved to problem which was due to me not having the latest flash software installed and I think theres a good chance it'll be the same for you with youtube.

sorry reread the OP, and I'd go with the you web connection not being fast enough, I get it on the odd occasion and I average 5mbs, I normally pause as it plays and then wait 30secs then press play again, enough video is then buffered0

It's nothing to do with the laptop, it's youtube, crap bandwidth.
The workaround is to hit the pause button, until the file has downloaded fully, then play it.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0
