ESA Application

Hi folks, unfortunately I’ve been off work coming up to a year, fortunately for my I have full pay for a year. This will stop next month and my work have suggested I apply for ESA, they have also given me an insurance to see if I can claim it. When I pay ends next month my company aren’t paying me off but will keep me as an employee on unpaid sick leave (not sure how long), I have a call with DWP regarding my ESA claim and the way I read it I have to sign up to things like writing a CV and meetings regarding future employment. The issue is I’m not looking for another job as I’d go back to my old one if able to while company keep it open.
Is. This correct that I’ll have to do these things or have I picked things up wrong, as a 57 year old I’ve never claimed a benefit before as I’ve worked since the day I left school.

Until they work out what group you fit into, then once the assessment is completed, you would be contribution-related because you've worked over two years beforehand. But if you fall into WRAG group LCW, then you'll have to see an advisor once a month to plan a return to work, but if you have an LCWRA support group, then you wouldn't need to see anyone, provided you remain in the support group. But if they decide to award LCW it will last for twelve months only. In support group LCWRA indefinitely unless there's a change of circumstances.1

and see where you score points.
The DWP should take into account the 3 medical professionals along with any other evidence you supply.

Yes a possibility HillStreetBlues but he can always appeal any outcome. But it will probably be months before he even gets a decision, it's really bad at the moment.1

I doubt you'll get an answer this year it's badly backlogged but the standard rate will be paid to you until they've assessed your claim. For what group you will be put into and you can appeal if it goes against you
