Hi
I'm doing some calcs on my finances and am trying to work out my annual income and how much tax I pay. I'm paid four weekly and as such when one tax year ends and another starts, my pay period falls onto both sides.
In 2022/2023 - The payslip period was 13/03/23 - 09/04/23. Paid on 18/04/23.
In 2023/2024 - The payslip period was 11/03/24 - 07/04/24. Paid on 16/04/24.
Is some kind of calculation used to proportion the earnings over the two tax years?
Or is solely based on the date the payment was made (not the dates worked), and therefore which tax year the payment date falls into.
Apologies in advance if I'm overthinking it!
Many thanks

You are overthinking it 🙃.
The date you are paid is what matters. The payment on 18-04-2023 is part of your income for 2023-24.
The payment on 16-04-2024 is part of your income for 2024-25.1 -
Thank you both for clarifying, much appreciated.0
