Unfair PIP decisions

Options
I applied for PIP due to my mobility problems - osteoarthritis of both hips. I was rejected so appealed and again rejected even though my condition has worsened. The main reason I was rejected is because my mental ability is not impaired by my mobility condition !!! When I questioned this I was told it's protocol. Can't get my head around that they equate how competent you are mentally eg can you manage money, communicate with people, plan a journey etc with your mobility issues and deem that you don't need help even though I explained my husband now has to help me with household tasks.

  • Can you supply more info about the appeal?

  • Take it to tribunal, it should be purely on your mobility.

Appeal refers to the Tribunal. Did you get this far and they refused or did you just get to MR? You also mention a worsening of condition but they will not take that into consideration. They will only take into consideration what your conditions were like at the time the decision was made.
  • Maybe they meant the pain isn’t so bad it affects your mental functioning and that’s one of the tests they use?

Given that mobility is split into two sections - physical mobility and ability to leave and plan a journey.

I would understand if they said your mental health doesnt effect your mobility eg you can leave the house and have the capacity to plan a journey.

So how far did they say you could mobilise v how far you think you can mobilise.  Taking into account on a good day/bad day and which of these are the greater.   Also taking into account reliability and if you can repeat the action.
