Which Vacuum Cleaner To Buy

Shark, Dyson and Miele have different models, it is not a one size fits all and it very much depends what your flooring is as to how well a particular model will perform.JRThornton said:I've got a Shark, Henry, Dyson, Miele and Karcher. The Shark is the best for pet hair. With the others, you end up spending valuable time removing the pet hair from the brush or floor attachment. With the Dyson, I have to stop to unblock it every few minutes. The Dyson was a very disappointing and expensive purchase. Never again! The Henry is very tough though and comes into it's own when you're doing DIY or home renovations as it sucks up all kinds of rubble and debris. Not the best for pet hair though as it still gets tangled around the floor attachment. Therefore, I would recommend the Shark for day to day vacuuming and the Henry for more heavy duty work. The Miele is a good vacuum but not great with pet hair as it gets tangled around the floor attachment.
Some of the Dyson models are awful but some are really good at getting deep down.
In general Shark are very good for removing the dirt on the top of the carpet but not so good at getting the deep down stuff at the bottom of the carpet but people don't tend to think about that because they can't see that dirt at the bottom.

Henry every time. Immensely reliable and strong, great value. And I love the fact that there is an integrated reel for the cable with a winding handle. Why don't more appliances have this feature?2

My Miele has a winding mechanism which pulls the cable inside the machine at the touch of a button.Nebbit said:Henry every time. Immensely reliable and strong, great value. We've had Miele, they look good, work ok but they're not a patch on a Henry.1

I don't have any pets so don't need one for pets hairs etc . I am I have still not got around to actually buying one. I appreciate all of your comments and advice. I am using my little robot cleaner at the moment or I would have bought a new vacuum the day my Miele gave up the ghost, Sue1
